Chelsea will miss striker Didier Drogba and midfielder Frank Lampard when they face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Ivory Coast's Drogba is out with a fever while England's Lampard could not recover from a groin strain in time to take part in the game.

"Lampard is getting better but he needs to have maybe two weeks to be fit 100 per cent, he had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention," Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

"Drogba had a fever this week and was not able to train, he started today [Friday] but is not fit.

"He took antibiotics in the last days and needs to train next week and I'll know if he is available for the game in the Champions League."

Drogba, who finished last season as the league's top scorer, made a bright start to the new campaign.

He scored six goals in Chelsea's first seven games to help them top the table with 18 points, four ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
