Emam has spoken exclusively to FilGoal.com about his final decision to leave Zamalek in January, citing 'unfair' treatment from manager Hossam Hassan.
He said: "Hassan is used to saying that I lack discipline but he doesn't punish other players who left the training camp to stay with their families or attend concerts."
Emam was referring to Hussein Yasser who travelled to Belgium for almost a week without notice.
Shikabala also left the Alexandria camp for the North Coast, where famous singer Mohamed Mounir was having a concert.
Emam was summoned by Refaat on Monday night to confirm the authenticity of the interview and the tension rose quickly.
Refaat, a Zamalek and Egypt icon as a player and manager, slapped Emam twice.
"Emam went out of line when speaking about Hossam Hassan," Refaat said.
"How come I let such a young player speak rudely about Hassan, who is an Egyptian legend?
"I slapped him as if I am his father. There's nothing wrong about this."
