Borussia Dortmund missed out on the chance of becoming level on points with Group J leaders Paris Saint-Germain after the French side scored a late goal to earn a 1-1 draw in the Europa League on Thursday.

The German side, who are on top of the Bundesliga, looked to be heading for a victory when Nuri Sahin put them in front five minutes into the second half.

The Turkish midfielder, who also scored the goal which helped Dortmund claim a 2-1 win over Cologne last Friday, converted a penalty after Jakub Blaszczykowski was fouled by Zoumana Camara.

However, Clement Chantome struck with three minutes remaining to help PSG secure a share of spoils.

The 23-year-old midfielder scored from close range after being found by a pass from Guillaume Hoarau.

Dortmund continued to play without long-term absentee Mohamed Zidan of Egypt, who should recover from a serious knee injury next month.

PSG remain on top of the group with seven points from three games, one ahead of Spain's Sevilla who claimed a narrow 1-0 victory away to Ukraine's Karpaty.

Dortmund, who never won Europe's secondary competition but clinched the old European Cup Winners' Cup in 1966, are third on four points.

PSG and Dortmund will meet again in Paris on November 4.
