The towering striker, who joined City from the Gunners in the summer of 2009, scored against his former team last season in a 4-2 win and celebrated his goal in a controversial manner.
Adebayor ran the length of the pitch and celebrated right in front of angry Arsenal spectators, causing unrest in the stands of the visitors.
Later on, he was fined £25,000 and handed a suspended two-game ban for his unusual reaction.
Ahead of Arsenal's trip to City on Sunday, Mancini called on Adebayor to 'stay calm' this time around.
"It's better to stay calm," Mancini told Daily Mail.
"This will be a very difficult game because when Arsenal play well they are probably the best team in the Premier League."
City will close to within two points of defending champions and leaders Chelsea should they beat Arsenal, who now lie in fourth place.
