Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim revealed that the club's safe only includes a total of $35,000 in cash.

"We have around $35,000 in cash in the meantime," Ibrahim, Zamalek's interim chairman said in an interview with CNN on Thursday.

"For this reason we are struggling to extend the contracts of some players, as well as making new deals."

Zamalek have been late in renewing the contracts of key defenders Hani Saied and Mahmoud Fathallah, with the latter linked with an Ahli switch.

The Cairo club are also in danger of missing out on full-back Ahmed Samir, whose prospected January move could collapse due to the financial crisis.

Despite the difficulties, Hossam Hassan's men are currently top of the table in the Egyptian Premier League after beating Police Union 2-0 on Wednesday.
