Zamalek right-back Ahmed Ghanem believes that he still keeps his status as a regular starter at the Cairo club.

The 24-year-old, who came under fire early this season for a string of poor performances, has been on the sidelines for quite a while.

He nursed a knee injury for several weeks and was kept on the fringes for another while after reaching full recovery, with winger Omar Gaber playing regularly instead.

Ghanem wasn't named for the Whites' last league games against Police Union and Gaish, however; he seemed to be unfazed by his lack of first-team football.

"I've been Zamalek's right-back for three seasons under more than one coach," he told FilGoal.com.

"The coaching staff pick the squad and of course I never protest against their decisions, but I'm sure I will be back in action soon."

Zamalek, who are on top of the Egyptian Premier League table with 18 points, will face Ismaili on November 21th after the competition stoppage.
