Sunderland recorded a surprise 3-0 win over an off-form Chelsea side on Sunday in a Premiership game that saw Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady introduced in the dying minutes.

Nedum Onuoha scored a sensational goal on the stroke of halftime when he dribbled past a couple of challengers, to go one-on-one with keeper Petr Cech and slot home with aplomb.

Asamoah Gyan doubled the Black Cats' lead in the 52nd minute when he finished off a neatly-worked counter attack.

Danny Welbeck capitalized on a deadly Ashley Cole mistake to steal the ball in the area and complete the rout three minutes from time.

A couple of minutes later, Welbeck made way for Elmohamady who played for about five minutes before the referee blew the final whistle.

The pacey right-sided midfielder, who was benched for the first time this season in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, didn't get the chance to make a notable impact against Chelsea.

Sunderland are now in sixth place on 19 points while defending champions Chelsea remain on top of the league table with 26.
