Gouna claimed a vital 2-0 victory over close rivals Harras Hodoud to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

A goal in each half by Ahmed Hassan Farag and Sherif Ashraf sealed the victory for the home side in Hurghada.

Farag headed in a 31st minute corner to put an end to his nine-match goal drought.

After the break, the in-form Ashraf latched onto a precise cross by Ahmed Omran to score his third goal in four games.

The win sent Anwar Salama’s team level on 14 points with Hodoud, who still have a couple of games in hand.

Six matches take place later on Thursday as Police Union and MCDR both push for a second-placed spot after leaders Zamalek.
