Former Ahli manager Hossam Al-Badri revealed he had no option but to quit after being subjected to a huge amount of pressure recently.

Al-Badri resigned from his post last week making way for Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Shafi 'Zizo', following the champions' 3-1 defeat at Ismaili.

While several pundits criticized him for the timing of his exit, the former Ahli manager is adamant that he made the right decision.

"I had to do something significant in order to awake the players and I had no option but to quit," Al-Badri told Modern Sport TV.

"I was put under an amount of pressure that no human could bear. This was because of a small group of fans. The real Ahli supporters always backed me.

"The board and the football committee were also very helpful and supporting and I would like to thank them for that."

Formation

Al-Badri rejected talks blaming his preferred 4-4-2 formation on the team's poor show of late.

"The recent form had nothing to do with the formation," added the man who guided Ahli to the Egyptian Premier League title last term.

"I used the 4-4-2 because I believed it was suitable and I respect the new manager's decision to change it."

New boss Zizo seems to be more familiar with Ahli's tradiotional 3-5-2 formation, which was mostly used by former manager Manuel Jose.
