Ittihad's Ibrahim Saied is facing a fitness battle after spending quite some time out of action but he's preparing Thursday's league game with Zamalek, said head coach Mohamed Amer.

Amer coaxed the controversial defender into getting back in Ittihad's training shortly after taking charge of the Alexandrian team a week ago.

Saied boycotted Ittihad's training two months ago after falling out with former boss Carlos Cabral for lack of first-team opportunities, which negatively affected his form.

Amer is now trying to get him ready for Ittihad's trip to Zamalek.

"Saied boasts a lot of capabilities but he needs to be fit," the coastal side coach told FilGoal.com. "We are trying to get him ready for the Zamalek clash."

Ittihad lost 3-1 to Ismaili in their first competitive game under Amer, who took charge of the team following the sacking of Cabral.

Ittihad, who are trying to end their three-match losing run, lie 14th in the Egyptian Premier League table.
