Ahli's basketball game at home to Jazeera on Tuesday was marred by crowd riots in the dying seconds.

The troubles erupted after Ahli lost 67-62 to Jazeera at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal court in the club's headquarters.

The home fans ripped up seats and lit up fireworks before several of them stormed the court and engaged in a fracas with Jazeera players.

"The referee's decisions, which badly influenced the game, and the provocation of Jazeera players stirred the anger of Ahli fans," the Red Devils said on their official website.

"The club's general manager Moharam Al-Ragheb, along with the security personnel, eventually succeeded in containing the situation.

"The spectators, players and referees were secured until they left the court."

Ahli, who suffered their first defeat, top Group B in the basketball league with 17 points, three ahead of second-placed Jazeera.

The basketball games which involve the likes of Ahli, Jazeera, Zamalek and Ittihad - the so-called big four - occasionally witness unfortunate clashes between rival fans.
