Ittihad coach Mohamed Amer included Ibrahim Saied in the Alexandrian side's squad for their trip to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday.

Amer coaxed the controversial defender into getting back in Ittihad's training shortly after taking charge of the team over a week ago.

Saied boycotted Ittihad's training two months ago after falling out with former boss Carlos Cabral for lack of first-team opportunities, which negatively affected his fitness.

Now it seems that Amer is willing to give the 31-year-old, once deemed the best player in Egypt, the chance to play more regularly and rediscover his form.

Ittihad lost 3-1 to Ismaili in their first competitive game under Amer, who was appointed following the sacking of Cabral.

The coastal club, who are trying to end their three-match losing run, lie 14th in the League table.
