Shehata missed out on the prestigious accolade, although he led the Pharaohs to a third consecutive Nations Cup title in 2010 upon beating Ghana 1-0 in the final.
Rajevac, who's now Ahli Jeddah boss, was in charge of the Black Stars when they finished as the competition's runners-up. He also helped them reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
Egypt couldn't qualify for the World Cup under Shehata but Rajevac hailed the former Zamalek star as the best coach on the Dark Continent.
"Shehata achieved a lot with Egypt; He won three consecutive Nations Cup titles," the Serbian manager, who also beat off competition from Mazembe boss Lamine N'Diaye to snatch the best coach gong, told FilGoal.com.
"Of course he's the best in the last five years but Ghana's feats this year is what caused me to win the prize."
