Mohamed Zidan is hoping to get more playing time with Borussia Dortmund when Japan forward Shinji Kagawa joins his national team for the Asian Cup of Nations in January.

Zidan, who returned from a six-month injury layoff in November, has yet to play a single minute for the Bundesliga leaders, amid the steady form of summer recruit Kagawa.

“I will do my best to return to the starting line-up. In addition, Kagawa is leaving for the Asian cup in January and he plays exactly in my same position,” the Egyptian told Bild newspaper.

“I want to play but I had no problem to be on the bench because I blindly trust my coach (Juergen Klopp). I am sure he makes the right decision.”

Once every 10 years

Zidan hopes his side can secure the Bundesliga title earlier than expected this season as they lead the table by a superb ten points.

“I think the title could be decided in February. We need at least ten points from our first five games of the second half of the season,” he added.

“This season is our chance. It probably happens every 10 years.”

Zidan, who played for Werder Bremen, Mainz and Hamburg before joining Dortmund has never won a title in his ongoing five-year spell.
