Ahmed Elmohamady played 90 minutes as Sunderland received their first home defeat this season, losing 2-0 to Blackpool.

Two second-half goals from striker DJ Campbell gave the visitors a famous victory at the Stadium of Light; handing Sunderland their second defeat on the spin for the first time this term.

Elmohamady played the whole game on the right flank as the Black Cats spurned a host of chances from Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan, thanks to some heroic goalkeeping from the latter's Ghana mate Richard Kingson.

Sunderland remain seventh on 27 points, one place above over-achievers Blackpool who have 25 and three games in hand.

Steve Bruce’s men host Blackburn in an exciting mid-table clash on the first day of the New Year before traveling to Aston Villa on the 5th of January.
