Zamalek manager Hossam Hassan says he is working hard with twin brother Ibrahim to defend the club because ‘everyone is trying to destroy it’.

The outspoken coach hinted at Shikabala’s infamous dispute with Ahli supporters; a setback that almost saw the Zamalek star end his international career.

“We are fighting on all fronts. Ibrahim and I are Zamalek’s sword and shield, with only the fans behind us,” coach Hossam told Modern Kora TV.

“Everyone wants to destroy Zamalek because we are top now. Some people are trying to break all our stars, and not just Shikabala.

“If they want Zamalek to die, just say it!.. so that our fans don’t bother supporting the team.

“We want to take advantage of the current break to carry on defending Zamalek, but we need to be backed in our cause.”

Jose's salary

Amid their bid to sign defender Moatasem Salem from Ismaili, Hassan made a plea to Zamalek patrons to aid the club in the pending deal.

“We just need some cash to complete Salem’s move,” added the former Ahli star.

“I am asking those businessmen who love Zamalek to contribute, just like Ahli patrons did with new coach Manuel Jose, who earns over €84,000 per month.”
