"I received a text message from him on my mobile phone after the Cairo derby, he said 'I want to leave Zamalek'," Hassan told Modern TV.
"My instant reply was 'get an offer'.
"Zamalek's fans weren't convinced with his abilities last season. We helped him develop his skills and establish himself as a regular, but he didn't consider that fact."
Gaafar, who scored four goals this season, was introduced as a substitute on the stroke of halftime in the capital derby between Ahli and Zamalek on Thursday.
He couldn't broke the deadlock though and the match eventually ended in a goalless draw.
"If anyone doesn't appreciate the value of being a Zamalek player, we will let him go. The club would never be affected by individuals," Hassan added.
