Zamalek striker Ahmed Gaafar says he will keep his regular starting berth in the second half of the season despite the signing of Mohamed Amine Aoudia and the return of Amr Zaki.

Gaafar, who scored four goals in the Egyptian Premier League this term, has been the five-time African champions' first-choice striker since the knee injury of Zaki.

Egypt marksman Zaki should be fit by next month while Algerian hitman Aoudia will be seeking to prove his worth in the next few months.

Mido, who recently terminated his contract with Ajax Amsterdam, has also been approached by Zamalek of late, another indication that Gaafar could be confined to the bench soon.

However, the ex-Egypt Telecom man believes he will keep playing regular first-team football under any circumstances.

"Last year I was a regular starter, although Amr Zaki and Mido were here," Gaafar, who was fined by Zamalek on Thursday for hanging out till late at night, told FilGoal.com.

"It's all about hard work and consistent training in order to convince the technical staff with my ability to play regularly.

"I trust my boss (Hossam Hassan) and his judgment.

"I have learned a lot from Mido last season. His presence would benefit me.

"Aoudia is also a good striker while Zaki's return in action will definitely be a boost.

"The abundance of hitmen will increase the firepower of the team after all."

Right after last week's Cairo derby between Ahli and Zamalek, Gaafar provoked head coach Hassan by informing him via text message that he wanted to part ways with the Whites.

The 25-year-old apologized to his manager for the SMS later and underlined his 'strong' desire to help Zamalek win their upcoming league matches.

He said he was angry because he wasn't included in the starting lineup against Ahli.
