South Korea coasted to a 2-1 victory over Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup, thanks to a brace from midfielder Koo Ja-Cheol.

Koo scored in either side of the interval at Al-Gharrafa Stadium as Faouzi Aaish scored a late consolation for the Gulf team from the spot.

Korea take second place in Group C after leaders Australia, who spanked minnows India 4-0 earlier on Monday.

Three goals in the first half by Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell and Brett Holman ensured an easy win for the Socceroos.

Everton ace Cahill added another with a trade-mark header after the break to complete the rout.
