The man who guided Egypt to three straight Africa Cup of Nations titles was delighted with the ceremony, which was organized by EFA chief Samir Zaher in Cairo.
“Since I’ve started working with the national team, I never thought about personal glory. I only wanted Egypt to be on top,” said Shehata.
“My dream now is to lead Egypt to another CAN titles next year and lead the nation to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.”
Egypt’s injured captain Ahmed Hassan paid tribute to his manager, having been the team leader in all three CAN triumphs under Shehata.
“As soon as you join the national team’s camp, Shehata is always there to tell you that we have no option but to win. He only thinks about success,” said the Ahli veteran.
“I am urging everyone around the national team to back Shehata so that he can achieve more feats with the team.”
