Hamdi has been a revelation for Egypt in the Nile Basin tournament, where he claimed the top scorer award with six goals in five games.
But the 26-year-old, who has yet to open his account with Egypt in competitive matches, will need to improve his goal-scoring form with club.
“Coach Hassan Shehata promised me a real chance if I managed to replicate my performances in the tournament with Petrojet,” said Hamdi.
“Being a regular for Egypt is not a certainty for me despite my recent success, so I have to keep working hard.”
Hamdi, who scored on his Egypt debut in a 2009 friendly against Guinea, only found the net three times for Petrojet in the first half of the Egyptian Premier League season.
He was named in Egypt squad for the Nile Basin tournament as regular strikers Emad Meteb and Amr Zaki are out injured, whereas Mohamed Zidan is with club Borussia Dortmund.
