Australia reached the AFC Asian Cup final for the first time with a thumping 6-0 semi-final victory over Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

First-half goals by Harry Kewell and Sasa Ognenovski were followed another four after the break from David Carney, Brett Emerton, Carl Valeri and Robbie Kruse.

The Uzbeks were reduced to ten men on 67 minutes when quarter-final hero Ulugbek Bakaev turned into villain by picking up his second caution.

The Socceroos will face two-time champions Japan in the final on Saturday after the latter downed South Korea on penalties earlier.
