Shikabala insists he did nothing wrong in the dispute with Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan in the wake of the goalless draw with Military Production last weekend.

The midfield star, who was suspended for the match, was involved in a heated argument with Hassan at Cairo Stadium before going AWOL afterwards.

Hassan, the twin brother coach Hossam, hit out at the 24-year-old and said he will be dropped from the Champions League visit to Ulinzi Stars, but the matter was resolved temporarily after chairman Galal Ibrahim interfered.

The outspoken Hassan later said that Shikabala’s inclusion in the Ulinzi-match squad is not necessarily a reprieve, announcing an EGP 108,000 fine against the team’s top scorer.

Not involved

“I did nothing wrong in the first place and I wasn’t involved in the problem after the Production match,” Shikabala told FilGoal.com.

“What happened was that Ibrahim Hassan was angry at Mohamed Ibrahim and I have no problem with that of course, but then another player yelled at his teammate as well, and here I had to interfere.

“I told the players to calm down and not to yell at each other and then Hassan suddenly shouted at me saying ‘Stay out of it’ and ordered me to leave the room.”

Youngster Mohamed Ibrahim, who came off the substitutes bench in the disappointing draw, was sent off late in the game for a second bookable offence.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old forward was fined for his behavior.
