The Borussia Dortmund man was taken off on 87 minutes of his side's penalty shootout win over South Korea in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

It's understood that Kagawa suffered a fractured foot, an injury that he won't overcome ahead of Saturday's game at Khalifa Stadium.

The 21-year-old was instrumental in helping Japan reach the final, hitting a brace in the 3-2 quarter-final victory over hosts Qatar.

He has also been impressive in his first Bundesliga season, having netted eight goals with Dortmund so far.
