Zamalek midfielder Hassan Mostafa believes that Egypt president Hosni Mubarak shouldn't step down right away as numerous protestors asked.

Millions of Egyptians across the nation expressed their disgruntlement with the government, trying to topple Mubarak over the past couple of weeks.

Widespread demonstrations and strikes, unprecedented during the incumbent president's reign, started in January and hit the headlines of late.

Many of the protestors called on Mubarak, who gained a fifth consecutive term in September 2005, to end his 30-year-old period in office immediately.

However, Mostafa believes the 82-year-old should keep his post till the end of his ongoing tenure this year.

"From my perspective, his departure would be better by the end of his term," he told FilGoal.com.

"There are security worries now, so what would happen if the president left these days?

"I respect the demonstrations of course; they resulted in positive changes that history will remember … but it's also sad to see an Egyptian clashing with a compatriot."
