Egyptian footballers should repay their fans' faith in them by supporting the anti-government protesters in the ongoing uprising in Egypt, Ibrahim Saied said.

The Ittihad defender has been regularly visiting Tahrir square, where thousands of protesters gather on a daily basis to express their desire to see president Hosni Mubarak get toppled.

"I go to Tahrir every day. This should be our attitude towards those who cheered for us beforehand," he told FilGoal.com. "It's time to pay our debt to the people.

"While I'm there I feel great sadness over the martyrs of the uprising and that urges us all to keep protesting."

Nearly 300 people were killed and thousands injured all over the country during the political unrest that started on January 25.
