Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan is confident of being fit for Egypt’s crucial qualifier in South Africa next month, following the injury he picked up recently.

The 28-year-old’s second-half introduction in the recent Bundesliga clash at Kaiserslautern only lasted for eight minutes as he received a fierce knock to his ribs in the 1-1 draw.

“I had a scan and it showed that the injury is not serious. It was just a knock in my ribs,” Zidan told the Egyptian FA’s website.

“The doctor told me to rest for now until the pain goes away, but I should be fully fit to play in the South Africa match.”

Zidan, who only appeared twice for Bundesliga leaders Dortmund so far this term, remains doubtful for next weekend’s match against St. Pauli at home.

The former Werder Bremen striker spent most of last year on the sidelines after damaging the cruciate ligament in April 2010.
