Annulling relegation in the Egyptian Premier League this season would be absurd, said Zamalek's football director Ibrahim Hassan.

Arab Contractors, Ittihad, Gouna, Wadi Degla and Smouha agreed on resuming the competition as soon as possible, provided that the demotion rule is deactivated this term.

But Hassan was quick to hit out at these outfits, saying they are trying to take advantage of the current circumstances.

"Some clubs are only after their own interest because they want to avoid the possibility of being relegated," he told FilGoal.com.

"They are not considering what's best for the competition. I hope the (Egyptian) Football Association won't listen to them.

"Those clubs in the bottom half of the table still have a chance to move away from the danger zone," Hassan added.

All sports competitions were indefinitely stopped in Egypt after demonstrations broke out and turned into a full-scale revolt that overthrew former president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
