Egypt still hold hopes of having next month’s CAN 2012 qualifier in South Africa postponed in the wake of the recent turmoil in the country.

The African champions requested postponing the March 25th clash after the Egyptian Revolution, which put off all sports activities in the country.

Even though the South Africans turned down the proposal, Egypt are still hoping that CAF would give them a more positive answer.

“There is no intention of forfeiting the match, but we are still waiting for a response from CAF regarding our request,” Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki told FilGoal.com.

“In case the match wasn’t postponed, the national team will assemble on March 20.”

Egypt, who dominated the scene in Africa over the past few years, are in danger of missing out on the 2012 finals as they lie bottom of Group 7 with one point from two games.
