Former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has been appointed the manager of Qatar, following the sacking of Frenchman Bruno Metsu.

Metsu was relieved of his duties after failing to take the team beyond the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup that was hosted in Qatar last month.

Rajevac, who led Ghana to the quarter-finals of the World Cup and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations last year, stepped down as the manager of Saudi club Ahli Jeddah this month.

The 57-year-old Serbian was named Manager of the Year 2010 by CAF after his historic achievement with the Black Stars.

He signed a contract with Qatar until 2014.
