Ahli coach Manuel Jose urged the Egyptian FA to resume the Premier League right away, saying football in the country might 'die' if the competition is canceled.

All sports competitions were indefinitely halted in Egypt after demonstrations broke out and turned into a full-scale revolt that toppled ex-president Hosni Mubarak last month.

It's understood that the Egyptian FA is considering continuing the league this season but a final decision is yet to be made.

"Egyptian football is the biggest in Africa and they shouldn't let it die," said Jose in the wake of Ahli's 1-0 friendly win over Harras Hodoud on Wednesday.

"I would like to call on the officials to continue the league as soon as possible because all teams will bear the brunt of this stoppage.

"Clubs will also suffer from severe financial losses."
