Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady is aware of other clubs’ interest in his services, but is keen on staying with Sunderland.

The on-loan ENPPI man is on the verge of making a permanent move to Sunderland after impressing with the English Premier League club so far this term.

While Black Cats manager Steve Bruce has been increasingly satisfied with Elmohamady’s contribution, the 23-year-old seems to be enjoying life at the Stadium of Light.

“I am happy at Sunderland and even though I am aware of the interest from other clubs, it doesn’t concern me,” Elmo said in an interview with FIFA’s Arabic website.

“My focus is with Sunderland where I feel very comfortable because of the magnificent support of the fans, my teammates and the manager’s faith in me.”

Elmohamady started most of Sunderland’s Premier League games so far this season as Bruce’s men have been performing above expectations, lying eighth of the table.

South Africa clash

Elmohamady gave his thoughts about Egypt’s eagerly-anticipated CAN 2012 qualifier in South Africa this month, amid the recent unrest in his homeland.

“The South Africa game will be decisive, and we’re still the champions of Africa despite our critical situation,” he added.

“The recent events were out of control. The situation forces us to play the game under extraordinary circumstances, but I believe in our team’s abilities and experience to overcome the difficulties.”

In addition to the events of the January 25 Revolution, Egypt are in a critical position in Group 7 lying bottom with one p from two games.
