Ahli forward Geddo was included in Egypt's squad for this month's Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa after he had been diagnosed with a minor concussion.

The international ace replaced Osama Hosni in Ahli's 2-0 Champions League win over SuperSport United on the hour mark but was taken off in the 83rd minute upon suffering 'a tough blow to the face'.

Geddo, the 2010 African Cup of Nations top scorer, underwent a scan on his head and the results indicated he just needs to rest for a day or two to reach full recovery.

Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan was recalled to the squad too. He was doubtful for the game as he was nursing an injury of late.

Strikers Ahmed Ali, Ahmed Belal and Sayed Hamdi were also named on the list.

Skipper Ahmed Hassan, who has just recuperated from a serious cruciate ligament tear, was expectedly snubbed.

Egypt, who are languishing at the bottom of Group G with one point, need to beat leaders South Africa away on March 26 in order to revive their qualification hopes.

The Pharaohs won the Nations Cup title three times on the trot in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

Egypt's squad:

Goalkeepers: Essam Al-Hadari (Sudan's Hilal), Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed (Zamalek), Mohamed Sobhi (Ismaili)

Defenders: Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad, Wael Gomaa, Hossam Ghaly (Ahli), Ahmed Elmohamady (Sunderland), Mahmouhd Fathallah (Zamalek), Ahmed Samir Farag (Ismaili), Mohamed Nagib (Police Union)

Midfielders: Hosni Abd-Rabou, Amr Al-Sulaya (Ismaili), Mohamed Abou-Treika, Mohamed Shawky (Ahli), Shikabala, Ibrahim Salah (Zamalek), Walid Soliman (ENPPI)

Strikers: Mohamed Zidan (Borussia Dortmund), Geddo (Ahli), Sayed Hamdi (Petrojet), Ahmed Ali (Saudi Arabia's Hilal), Ahmed Belal (Smouha)
