Ismaili skipper Mohamed Hommos called on Egypt's players to revive their Ellis Park 'glory' on Saturday when they take on South Africa in a crucial Nations Cup qualifier.

The Johannesburg-based venue witnessed the Pharaohs' historic 1-0 win over four-time world champions Italy in the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009.

Hommos, who headed the memorable winner against the Azzurri, hopes his compatriots can capitalize on their 'happy memories' at Ellis Park while facing the Bafana Bafana.

"We have many happy memories of this stadium and I hope our players can revive their glory to overcome the South Africa obstacle," the 32-year-old, who was not named for the qualifying game, told FilGoal.com.

"The game is too hard but the Egyptians are willing to register a victory and make their fans happy."

African champions Egypt, who are languishing at the bottom of Group G on one point, need to beat leaders South Africa in order to keep alive their qualification hopes.
