A terrorist-bomb attack on Signal-Iduna Park, the home ground of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, has been foiled by the German police.
Germany’s Federal Crime Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) said that three bombs were diffused near the stadium and a 25-year-old man was detained in the process.
The suspect, who is a German, was planning his attack during Dortmund’s league clash with Hannover on Saturday.
"I am appalled," Hannover CEO Marin Kind told Kicker "I cannot imagine that football fans are capable of such thoughts.
"But we can look forward to a safe and attractive football match. I will walk into the stadium without a sense of fear."
The Signal-Iduna Park is regarded as one of the biggest football grounds in Germany, with a capacity of more than 80,000 fans.
