Harras Hodoud coasted to the Confederation Cup round of 16 after playing out a 1-1 draw with Dedebit of Ethiopia to win the tie 5-1 on aggregate.

The Alexandrians relied on their comprehensive first-leg victory to make it to the last 16 for the fourth year on the spin.

The home side took the lead after just four minutes, but couldn’t take advantage of their early strike, only for Hodoud to snatch a late draw.

Striker Ahmed Abdul-Ghani headed home in the seventh minute of injury time to deny the Ethiopians victory in Addis Ababa.

Egypt’s other Confederation Cup representatives Ismaili were dumped out of the competition after being losing 4-2 on aggregate to Sofapaka of Kenya.
