Hundreds of home supporters invaded the Cairo-stadium pitch in anger after their team was about to lose the tie, forcing the match off seconds before the final whistle.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the White Knights ultras group condemned the incident and insisted that it was not planned by them.

However, Zamalek’s primary supporting contingent admitted being partially responsible for what happened, stressing that some members went onto the pitch to help contain the chaos.
