The Champions League clash was overshadowed by uncontrollable chaos which saw hundreds of Zamalek supporters invade the pitch shortly before the final whistle at Cairo Stadium.
The incident forced the FA the reconsider the date previously set for the resumption of the 2010-2011 season, which was the 13th of April.
“After speaking with the authorities, we decided to postpone the league without setting a date for its resumption,” Zaher told FilGoal.com.
“What happened in the Zamalek-Africain game made it clear that matches cannot be resumed in the meantime.”
Hope
Zaher, however, still maintains hope of keeping the season alive, despite fears that the competition will be called off.
“Maybe we can resume it at a later stage behind closed doors,” he added.
“More than a million Egyptians have their wages paid from football, so hopefully the competition will not be completely cancelled.”
The second half of the Egyptian league was postponed after the January 25 Revolution, which was followed by a significant decline in security across the country.
Zaher said in February that calling off the season would be disastrous for some clubs as well as the FA.
