The midfield talisman was uncommonly benched in Egypt’s 1-0 defeat in South African last month, as well as Ahli’s Champions League game at SuperSport United at the weekend.
“I always respect the managers’ point of view because they only have the right to play me or not,” Abou-Treika told FilGoal.com.
“I do not get angry for starting on the bench as long as I am in a good shape. If there is any decline in the meantime then it’s probably because of the unstable conditions we’re living in.”
Retirement
Treika, who won over 70 caps for Egypt, responded to allegations about his international career.
“When I decide to quit playing it will be full retirement. I will not stop playing for Egypt as long as I can play football,” the 32-year-old added.
Abou-Treika was pivotal in Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs in 2006 and 2008, but missed the 2010 finals in Angola due to injury.
