Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim is set to have a meeting with the first-team managing staff over the recent speculation suggesting their intention to step down.

“Several reports claimed that Hossam (head coach) and Ibrahim (football director) Hassan intend to step down after the Harras Hodoud game on Thursday,” the Zamalek chief told FilGoal.com.

“I will look into the matter immediately after the team return from Kuwait. There is too much talk and I want to know what the Hassans intend to do.”

Hossam Hassan helped Zamalek finish the first half of the season on top of the Egyptian Premier League table, three points ahead of closest rivals Ismaili.

But the Egypt legend’s reputation among Zamalek fans was significantly affected after the January 25 Revolution, thanks to his political stance during the 18-day revolt.

Football director Ibrahim was also heavily criticized in the wake of the infamous events that marred the continental clash with Club Africain, with some pundits accusing him of fueling the fire that led to the chaos on April 2.

Moreover, a dozen Zamalek players filed a complaint against the club over unpaid wages on Saturday, amid reports of a dispute with the team management.
