Ahli coach Manuel Jose expressed the club’s dismay with the Egyptian embassy in Zambia after the latter made no reply to the Reds’ enquiry about Champions League opponents ZESCO United.

The Egyptian champions will visit their Zambian counterparts on April 23 in the round of 16 first leg, but are set to enter the game without knowing much about their opposition.

“Unfortunately the reaction of the Egyptian embassy was completely opposite to what we expected,” Jose said after Wednesday’s league win over Police Union.

“They didn’t even reply to us. Maybe they support Zamalek and don’t like us!

“All the embassies we dealt with before used to help us with info about the team and even about hotels, food or anything about the respective country.

“They refused to help us but they’re actually aren’t helping Egypt. Now we’ll have to play against a team that we know nothing about so far.”

ZESCO eased to the round of 16 with a comprehensive 7-0 aggregate victory over Swaziland’s Young Buffaloes.
