Zamalek defender Ahmed Samir could switch from full-back to center-half in order to fill in the void left by the suspended Amr Al-Safti against Petrojet.

After Al-Safti was sent off in the 2-1 win over Harras Hodoud, the league leaders visit Helmi Toulan’s side this week with only Mahmoud Fathallah and outcast Mohamed Younes as the only bona fide central defenders.

Right-back Samir replaced Al-Safti for 45 minutes in last Thursday’s game and is ready for the task once again.

“I don’t have a problem to play in any position the team need me in,” Samir, who captained Zamalek on his returning debut against Hodoud, told FilGoal.com.

“I played before as a center-half, with Zamalek and with other teams as well.”

Samir is unlikely to be wearing the captain’s armband once again though, as skipper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed is poised to retrieve it.
