Mohamed Amer has returned to manage Ittihad only ten days after his departure.

The former Ahli striker was recalled by club GM Gasser Mounir, following the resignation of the interim board led by Essam Shaaban on Monday.

“How can I reject the task of saving the club when it needs me?” Amer told FilGoal.com after returning at the Alexandrian club helm.

“I will lead the team until a new board is appointed, then they should decide about my future.

“I will try to get the team together after what happened recently. I hope that fans would stand by the team. I am still confident the players can get past this difficult ordeal.”

Amer was replaced by ex-Ittihad star Ahmed Sari earlier this month, but the latter encountered serious squad problems after 22 first-team players refused to train over their unpaid wages.

Sari was then forced to rely on the U20s in last week’s league game at MCDR, who eased 4-0 past the inexperienced Ittihad side.

The former Egypt international followed the resigning board out of the club, even though he used to work as an assistant for Amer before the recent change in management.

Ittihad are currently bottom of the Egyptian Premier League table with 11 points.
