"I am disappointed with the result. We did not plan for this result," he told CAF Online. "I'm disappointed because we didn't score and therefore did not win the game.
"Our plan was to score goals. The least was to score at least one. But unfortunately we couldn't do that even with the number of chances we created."
On the return, which takes place in a fortnight, Simukonda said: "We have one more week to prepare for that game and we will look forward to it with confidence because we know that we can still qualify.
"We will go there to get a result which should see us qualify to the group stage. We have a chance even in Egypt. We will go there to fight and win and qualify. We will be ready."
Ahli will go through should they win the second leg by any scoreline.
