Ismaili will not request a foreign referee for their crunch league encounter with Zamalek next week, in line with the ‘spirit of the revolution’.

“We won’t ask for an overseas ref ahead of our match with Zamalek,” Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan told FilGoal.com.

“We hope that the spirit of the revolution has changed the attitude of referees and planted justice and fairness within the system.”

Ismaili, who usually call for European officials for their games with Ahli and Zamalek, were furious with the performance of referee Mahmoud Ashour in last week’s game at ENPPI.

An Ismaili board member said after the 0-0 draw that the principles of the January 25 did not reach Egyptian referees.

The Dervishes, currently second of the league table, have a chance to close the gap with Zamalek to two points when they host the leaders next Monday.
