Tens of Ittihad fans invaded the Alexandria Stadium pitch during the team's training session Wednesday to prompt a brawl with several players.

FilGoal.com reporter said both sides had used batons against each other. Defender Ateya Al-Belkasi had even used a stunner.

Al-Belkasi was hospitalized after suffering a wound to his head before reporting the incident to the police.

The angry supporters were calling for the departure of some players, including Hussein Fahmi, Al-Hani Soliman, Sayed Farid and Al-Belkasi.

The pitch invasion took place shortly after Alexandria governor Essam Salem met with Ittihad's players and asked them to exert more efforts to avoid relegation.

The beleaguered Ittihad have been long languishing at the bottom of the league table. They are now on 12 points.
