Ahli have officially requested authorities to open an investigation into the incidents that marred their league game with Masri in Port-Said last week.

The Cairo club claimed getting a hostile reception upon arriving in the coastal city, accusing Masri supporters of stoning the team bus 24 hours before the game.

Members of the Ahli squad have also revealed that the team bus was attacked again on the way back to Cairo, this time blaming Ismaili supporters for the assault.

Consequently, the Egyptian champions issued a statement on Thursday, calling for the ‘necessity of investigating the events’ by the Supreme Council of Sports.

The long statement also urged the Egyptian FA to ‘take decisive action in order to maintain the league competition smoothly and ensure fairness to all parties.’

Finally, Ahli said they will send a sample of their request to Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.
