The 27-year-old said he had been given the permission to train with Zamalek’s arch-rivals during his club’s journey to Saudi Arabia as part of his rehabilitation.
However, Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan denied being aware of Zaki’s plans as the former went to play for the Alexandrians in a friendly with Sudan’s Hilal.
“Zaki has been warned because he made a double mistake here,” Hassan told FilGoal.com.
“He wasn’t given permission to train with Hodoud. He said he was going to train with Railways (third division) because the club is close to his home.
“Second, he took part in a friendly game against a strong team like Hilal of Sudan, which could have harmed him.
“I understand he wants to return as soon as possible, but his act could have cost him dearly.”
Zaki has yet to play in the league this year as he has been nursing a nagging knee problem since the end of 2010.
Gouna match
Meanwhile, Zamalek boss Hossam Hassan voiced his concern with the timing of his side’s match against Gouna in Hurghada this week.
The Whites will meet the Egyptian Premier League strugglers at 4.00pm on Tuesday, which means they will have to face the heat of the coastal city.
“The timing of the game is very difficult and this will have an impact on the players. It would have been better if we played at night,” Hassan said.
“But we are playing for the title and therefore we should not look for excuses.”
