Ahli defender Wael Gomaa questioned his manager Manuel Jose’s decision to deploy Moataz Eno as a playmaker in Sunday’s Champions League win over ZESCO United.

Jose was rather forced to use the defense-minded Eno in an advanced position, amid the absence of Mohamed Abou-Treika and the unavailability of Ahmed Hassan and Amir Sayoud.

The Portuguese coach started with the unfit Mohamed Barakat on the bench, before the latter came on for Eno to win the game for the Reds in style.

“With all due respect to Eno, he is not a playmaker. It is the role in which Barakat excelled in after coming on for him,” Gomaa, who made a rare assist in Barakat’s goal, told Zoom Sport TV.

“I have to admit that we missed the services of Abou-Treika.”

Abou-Treika has been ruled out for two weeks with a calf problem.
