Sunderland’s hopes of a top-10 finish in the English Premier League were dented after the Black Cats succumbed to a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Wolves.

Egypt full-back Ahmed Elmohamady, who played the 90 minutes at the Stadium of Light, couldn’t help his side avoid their seventh home defeat of the season.

The visitors were in front after 23 minutes through former Sunderland defender Jody Craddock , but Stephane Sessegnon equalized before half time.

Wolves, who were in dire need for a win in their fight against relegation, sealed the victory in the second half with goals from Steven Fletcher and George Elokobi.

Sunderland slip to 13th place on 44 points, while Wolves have crucially jumped out of the bottom three after reaching their 40th point.
